Escape from the Mac’s full-screen mode

Updated June 13th, 2019.

I don’t know about you but the Mac’s penchant for going full-screen (and no menu bar) doesn’t suit me at all. I like my menu bar. If you find yourself in full-screen mode, and you want to get out, just press the Escape key on the keyboard and things will go back to normal.

Now you know why I titled this “Escape from full-screen mode” instead of “How to get out of full-screen mode.”

Wondering how you got into full-screen mode? Almost certainly, you clicked the green “zoom” button. Want the button to zoom, but not hide the menu bar? Hold the Option key down while you click it.
