Close, minimize, or zoom Mac windows in slow motion

Updated June 10th, 2019.

We are usually in a hurry to do things with our Macs, and faster is usually better. But, sometimes going slowly adds a little fun, and that’s what this tip is all about.

If you hold the Shift key down while clicking any of the buttons in a Mac window’s title bar you will get a slow-motion effect. This works on the red button (the close button), the yellow button (the minimize button), and the green button (the zoom button). It also works when clicking a minimized window in the Dock to bring it back onto the screen.

Take an extra second or two and have some fun today.
