Mac trackpad users: try “tap to click”

Updated June 10th, 2019.

Tap to click

Whether you’re using an Apple MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air with a built-in trackpad, or a desktop Mac with an external Apple Magic Trackpad, making it easier to click can make your hands feel better after a long day of work. I recommend trying “Tap to click.” That’s how I do it.

System Preferences / Trackpad / Tap to click
System Preferences / Trackpad / Tap to click

Just go to System Preferences/Trackpad/Point & Click and check the box for Tap to click. It saves a lot of wear and tear on your clicking finger. Try it and see. It’s a one-finger tap– remember that.

Pressing down on the trackpad, the old-fashioned way, will still work, even with Tap to Click checked, so you get it both ways.
